Minneapolis donates fire trucks

“A Tale of Friendship and Generosity: Minneapolis Extends a Helping Hand to Cuernavaca, Mexico”
Mayor José Luis Urióstegui

In a heartfelt gesture, the City of Minneapolis recently donated two fully equipped fire trucks and one ambulance to its sister city, Cuernavaca Morelos, nestled just 40 miles south of Mexico City. This act of solidarity was marked by an unforgettable ceremony on April 6, 2023, where Cuernavaca Mayor José Luis Urióstegui received the emergency vehicles amidst the presence of grateful citizens and the distinguished representative of Minneapolis, Bill Deef, Senior Vice President at Meet Minneapolis.

I had the privilege of speaking with Mayor José Luis Urióstegui Salgado in the enchanting city of Cuernavaca, known as “The City of Eternal Spring,” as we discussed the significance of these vehicles and explored broader topics such as fostering increased American tourism and attracting language students to Cuernavaca. Mayor Urióstegui expressed his sincere gratitude to Mayor Jacob Frey of Minneapolis, and I was honored to convey this message personally.

At Fabré Agency South, located in Cuernavaca, we embrace the beauty of the city’s year-round pleasant weather and its close proximity to the vibrant Mexico City. It is with deep concern that we acknowledge the decline in tourism that Cuernavaca, and Mexico as a whole, has experienced due to safety concerns. However, we remain optimistic and dedicated to revitalizing the allure of this enchanting destination.

As a Mexican American with close ties to Mexico City and Cuernavaca, having spent my youth residing there, I am fully committed to supporting the growth and prosperity of this extraordinary region. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you require any further information or assistance.

Our gratitude goes to Cuernavaca Gobierno Municipal for sharing these captivating photos. To read more about this inspiring story, visit https://lnkd.in/gaRB3hkf.
